Why the New Google My Business Tool is a Dream for Local Business Owners

Google My Business is a new tool announced last week from Google. This tool is one of the bigger announcements from Google in quite some time and has a lot of potential to really help businesses succeed in several different ways. In short, this isn’t just another tool that you should learn to use when you have the time or put on the backburner for later—this one can really help you. It’s a big deal in world of Google, which means it’s a big deal for your business.

What Google My Business Has to Offer

The biggest achievement of the new tool, hosted on Google+, is helping solve the problem that business have been having when it comes to Google Places, Google+ Local, and Google Maps for Business. Things were confusing when it came to management because it was tough to have your information in all of the right places to connect with customers. Below lists all of the things you can currently do with the new tool:

  • You can update your business info in one place for Search, Maps, and Google+.
  • Add more photos and/or a virtual tour of your business.
  • Share news and events from your Google+ page in order to directly connect with your fans and customers.
  • Respond to Google reviews and find reviews easier than ever before.
  • Use custom insights and integration with AdWords Express.
  • Use the Google My Business app to manage your information on-the-go.

Basically how it works is this: When you get started with Google My Business, all of the information that you offer is automatically put onto Google Search, Google Maps, and Google+. As you can imagine, this is huge in terms of management and it will ensure that customers can find you no matter what device they’re using or what platform they are using (ex: Maps for directions or hours of operation on Search).

As all of the news from Google My Business comes forward, there are a few important little features and facts that are getting hidden amongst all of the excitement:

  • This is now the default experience for anyone who was already using any of Google’s other local services, such as Places for Business or the old version of the Google+ dashboard. These users will automatically be upgraded to Google My Business.
  • The Android app for Google My Business is now live on Google Play, but an iOS version is still on its way.
  • Google My Business is being rolled out to the United States first, and changes are expected to be made over the coming weeks. There is still no word as to when this will be rolled out in other countries.
