A recent eye tracking study was released by OneUpWeb, which showed that most searchers actually ignore the real time search results that were put into affect a short while ago by Google and Bing.
What does that mean for Twitter which has deals with both search giants to let them index their content and serve them up in their results? Only time can tell but for the moment it isn’t looking good. Google apparently invested $15 million and Bing added another $10 million to produce these results. What is the return on investment for that? Apparently it’s not more eyeballs.
Here is a image map of the eye tracking study:
It’s looking more and more likely Google – and Bing – will need to have a rethink about how results are presented. Until then consumers will continue to ignore and get thier updates from Facebook and Twitter accounts!!
